information for pelvic health professionals

information for pelvic health professionals

by Diane K. Newman, RNC, MSN, CRNP, FAAN

At many of my seminars and talks, I'm asked to share information about my programs and website with my colleagues. One of my long term goals has been to set up a network of pelvic health professionals to share information, products and opportunities and this center is one component of the network.

I've finally seen this wish become reality with the launch of our website for nurses, ContinenceNurse.net.

As a busy pelvic health specialist myself, I know how important it is to stay informed about the latest advances in medicine, products, training and consumer needs -- but it's not easy.

ContinenceNurse.net will be continuously updated with the very latest information and tools for you and your patients. Take a look:

SEPHIAsChoice™
Wellness Partners, LLC (WPL) has developed a searchable, online database called SEPHIA(Search Engine for Pelvic Health Information and Associates) for use by consumers, health care professionals and industry leaders. The database has been designed with a public interface on SEPHIAsChoice.com where searches can be performed. The website also offers health professionals, group medical practices and medical institutions the opportunity to perform unlimited searches. Specific information collected from pelvic health specialists includes:

  • Contact and location information about the individual or group practice
  • Names of key staff members at the facility
  • Specialties including urology, geriatrics, nursing, primary care, internal medicine, gynecology, urogynecology and possibly others
  • Services available including assessment, evaluation, complex urodynamics, behavioral therapy, biofeedback therapy, medical therapy, electrical stimulation, surgical treatment, and alternative management
  • Specific expertise including general urology, incontinence and other voiding dysfunctions, pelvic pain and vulvodynia, interstitial cystitis and bladder pain, pelvic surgery, pelvic prolapse, male and female sexual dysfunction, prostate health, hormone imbalance and possibly others

The database is searchable on key variables including location, name, type of specialty, type of service and type of expertise and multiple variables can be indexed in an advanced search option. We are keeping the listings free as long as possible to quickly produce a database large enough to allow productive searches.

To add a listing to SEPHIA™, please visit www.sephiaschoice.com and register.
