I had brain surgery for a 4.2x3.9 tumor in the 4th ventricular, which has caused me some nerve damage and left me with a neurological bladder. My bladder most times is retention however if I happen to have a headache or under more stress my bladder just does it's own thing. My doctor wants SPC I have had a indwelling in the past and it doesn't bother me at all never had a UTI and for the last 3 yrs or so I have been CIC, which is ok but I tend to get sore and have tremors which sometimes make CIC hard to do. I have looked at the SPC vs the indwelling and haven't seen much of a difference in the risks other then damage to the urethra. I really don't want and SPC How can I convince my Doctor that I feel the indwelling better suits me ( I have been having a hard time with CIC due to changes in some areas of my brain according to my last MRI, so I have been getting tremors on the right side of my body). I would really like your input on this matter. Thank you, Mr. Frustrated

Answer
I think you should tell your doctor you prefer the indwelling urethral catheter because it does not require surgery and if it does not work out - you can always have the suprapubic catheter. I agree with your decision.
