i have over the weekend had a blockage in my indwelling cath
i have over the weekend had a blockage in my indwelling catheter i have tried pushing water through it to unblock it but nothing has worked my nurse is not available what should i do. i didn't know if i should press on my tummy because it was getting distended an painful or should i massage the blockage away. i have never had one of these before.

Answer
You can disconnect the catheter from the drainage tube and see if the catheter will drain urine. We usually do not suggest you push water back through the catheter into the bag. I would call your nurse or doctor.
