My mother has urinary frequency and there is no cure that we
My mother has urinary frequency and there is no cure that we have found. She lives in a retirement community and has minimal assistance. She has a delicate system and can't tolerate much medication. She is frequently awakened in the night and so looses sleep. The question I have is...can you suggest a way for her to wash her underwear where she could soak it without having to immediately wash it and it would not smell? Mom does not like her underwear done in a machine and prefers to handwash them. What is happening is she is not able to get down to breakfast because she, being a very clean and fussy person, is spending an hour or so to wash herself and her underwear and anything else that she wets. She just wants a way to manage better. I have looked up and found that vinegar helps to keep opdors down...but can you soak delicate underwear in vinegar water? I don't know what to do to help her. I was thinking that maybe a pail with a cover? Can you give me any ideas that might help...soon? Thanks, Angela

Answer
I would just have you Mom soak her underwear in a dove or ivory soap. However, your Mom should learn of ways to decrease her urinary symptoms. Maybe look at the following URLs as they may be of some help. Behavioral treatments: http://www.seekwellness.com/incontinence/treatments4.h tm
