my daughter (9 yrs. old) stopped wetting the bed years ago, however, for at least the past month she has been leaking urine, but only at night. She is going through between 5 and 7 pairs of underwear a night. I took her to the dr. twice. The first time they prescribed a antibiotic which cured nothing. The second time they told her to spread on some of the cream you can buy OTC for yeast infections. This also did nothing. They said that if this second treatment did not work then they did not know what was wrong with her. My daughter is frustrated and very upset about this. Can you help me figure out what is going on?

Answer
I would see a pediatric urologist as there is medication (DDAVP) that is given for night time incontinence. She also may be helped with behavioral treatments. The following are URLS for additonal infroamtion that may be helpful. Behavioral treatments: http://www.seekwellness.com/incontinence/treatments4.h tm UI in kids: http://www.seekwellness.com/incontinence/uti_in_childr en.htm and http://www.seekwellness.com/incontinence/bladder_disor ders_in_children.htm
