Hello! I have had frequent UTI's since I was about 18 - about 3-5 a year. I currently feel some symptoms of a UTI, so I asked my urologist to prescribe Cipro 250 mg 2 X a day. I am on my 3rd day of treatment. I don't feel any better. So, I don't know if I need a different antibiotic due to becoming immune to it. Or if it is something totally different. I have different symptoms this time - a lot more bladder pressure, frequent urination, not necessarily with burning, however. But I also have a feeling of heaviness in the pelvis and it feels like my vagina is opened up more. I have 4 children. Two of which are twins 2 years ago. What do you think is going on? Thank you for your help.

Answer
You need to see a specialist called a urologist because you are having too frequent urinary tract infections. He or she may recommend a cystocsopy where he or she looks in your bladder. They may also do upper tract (kidneys) studies like an ultrasound or IVP. They will also make sure you are emptying your bladder completely. Ask you doctor to refer you to a urologist.
