Recently I have been diagnosed with having urethral diverticulum. I have done several of my own mini researches on exactly what urethral diverticulum is, so that is not necessarily a concern of mine at this time. However, I can not seem to find very much information on the procedure itself, and RECOVERY TIME. I realize that wearing a catheter after the surgery is necessary, but I can not find anywhere how long this may be. If you know any information that may help I would really appreciate it. I am not so worried about actually having to get the surgery to remove the diverticulum, but I am concerned with how long I will have to take off from work and school. Please Help! Thank you, Jessica

Answer
Surgery is the last choice for removal of a diverticulum. Hopefully, you have recieved treatment with antibiotics as these can improve the diverticulum. The catheter is placed to allow the urethra to heal. It may be several weeks before the catheter is removed.
