thank you for your answer to my question (i.d.#611). there was, however, one other question which was not answered. if a patient refuses to be catherized because of fear and anxiety, and requests to be sedated before he will consent, what would the nurse's response likely be? is this something that the physician may agree to, assuming the catherization is medically necessary? in your initial response, you stated that men are 'usually' not given an anasthetic before being catherized. that 'usually' means there are situations where this does occur. thank you very much.
