I do not receommend that a person routinely use a catheter to drain the bladder UNLESS they have a medical condition that prevents voiding naturally. If you are having a problem urinating then you need to see a doctor to detemrine why you cannot void. Catheterization of the bladder can lead to infection and other serious problems so please speak with your doctor before you continue to do this. A water soluble lubricant like K-Y jelly should be applied to the catheter before insertion.
