How to use fall prevention bed pads

Seek Wellness presents Secure Bed & Chair Alarm Sets

To use the bed pad set, the alarm should be placed on the bed, widthwise across the mattress. The mat can either be placed in the shoulder area or directly under the buttocks of the user, underneath the bed sheets. The alarm sounds when weight is completely removed from the mat. So if you want to be notified when the user sits up, you should place it in the shoulder area (above the small of the back). If you prefer to be notified only when the user gets up from the bed, you would place it under the buttocks area. Next you will need to connect the pad to the alarm using the connector pin, which can be placed either in the top, front or pad jack opening.

The alarm should be affixed securely to the side of the bed out of sight and reach of the user but easily accessible for the caregiver. You can simply wrap this velcro strapping around railings or frames of the bed. Always secure any excess cord to avoid damaging the wires.

Assist the user in getting into bed making sure that they are on the pad and it's positioned correctly. You must always test the alarm to make sure it is working properly. The alarm will allow for normal movement, but if the user comes completely off of the pad, the alarm will sound. To reset the alarm, simply press the test/reset button.
